Sheffield S10 - curved garden with improved drainage and 60 tonne

This work was carried out in Sheffield. Initially there was a single path to the rear of the property at just a metre wide, it had a retaining wall of around 1.20 metres high. This created a 'boxed in' darkening effect, that was causing a lot of water to pool against the property and moss to grow on the walls and the concrete walkway.

We removed 60 tone of inert material to create the finished article you see here, with a drainage system that discretely tracked the water down the gable to an existing drain.

Sheffield S7 - tree removals, wall rebuild, new lawn, and an LED lit path

This development was in Sheffield. The area was completely overgrown with well established vegetation and 3x12m high trees, which were completely removed from the roots. Where the patio resides, there was an old sunken shelter, that was filled and concreted before the patio was installed. LED lighting was installed along the outer edges of the patio and path - it took 25 minutes to drill through the granite cobble edging for each of the 35 up-lights. 20 ton of top soil was added to create the lawn you see here.

The overall area was approximately 170 m².

I personally rebuilt this boundary wall that had perished due to tree growth and decades of decay. It required an entirely new footing all along its length.

All the old mortar was black, due to soot being used as part of the mixture back in the 1940s due to basic material shortages during the war. It was 50m long by 2.4m in height by 600mm in width. The neighbours tree was so well established it had crossed over the boundary, I had to incorporate a part of it into the my stonework.

Note: the stone was all reclaimed and random, with no sawn bed stone at all, 70% of it had to be 'dressed' individually.

Woodland pathways - installed for Loxley Primary School, Sheffield

Woodseats, Sheffield - earth removal, and new lawn

One of our favourites - we transformed an unusable space into a beautiful garden. The drive was constructed with 22 tonnes of limestone cliippings.

Nether Edge, Sheffield - earth removal, patio and lawn

We removed a very large amount of earth from this garden to make it level, which can be seen from the damp markings on the remaining wall. We built an octagonal seating bench which doubled as a child's toy store. A panel on the base lifted out to reveal a sandbox play area.

Sheffield - New patio, path, lawn and fence

The photograph here shows a new main patio area, a garage side path, new lawn held back by sleepers and a new upper boundary fence. The main patio area was originally a large hole, 600mm deep. It took a lot of hardcore to get it up to the required height. We ran a 1.5amp armoured cable around the main patio, looping it out of the patio in 5 equally spaced openings for future lighting.

Totley, Sheffield - New artificial grass

We laid a new artificial turf in this garden in Twentywell. The grass was around 35mm thick, and gives a real clean finish to what was already a lovely garden.

Mosborough, Sheffield - Conservatory removal, tree removals, DIY fix-up

We extended an existing patio area by 30m² whilst removing a conservatory that had slipped to one side, in what was a real failed DIY job. The paving had saplings growing through where it had sank and some of the paving was laid directly upon sand and earth. We introduced 7 tonne of 20mm hardcore and compacted it prior to laying the paving you see here. At the start of this project we had to remove 30 medium to small trees in the main garden area beyond the patio. The fence you can also see is our work.

Sheffield - Replacement of an old driveway

We replaced an aged driveway with new country cobbles, with a heath colour.

High Storrs, Sheffield - large scale decking construction

A super strong decking construction to survive the high winds and enjoy the view.

Knowle Lane, Sheffield - Earth removal, patio and tiered garden

We removed 15 tonnes of earth to build this garden from scratch.

Brincliffe gardens, Sheffield - Artificial grass for a show house

The artificial grass we laid here was for the show house at, Brincliff Gardens Sheffield. The turf was a very high quality item, being 35mm thick and a mixture of 4 colours within the pile. As with most new-builds, the ground previously was compacted builders waste with a bit of grit sand and turf that had perished.

Nether Edge, Sheffield - tiered garden construction

Raised decking patio with storage area beneath.

Dore, Sheffield - new tiered garden

We installed a 2-tier artificial grass kids play area, which the family loved. Sleepers were used to created the levelled platforms, replacing the original sloped bank.

Sheffield - 12 tonne earth removed from a sunken patio

This property had a sunken patio, where 12 tonnes of earth/clay had to be removed. The new lawn is held in place by new sleepers. It was hard work removing the clay element of the ground.

Killamarsh, North East Derbyshire - new driveway

We replaced a tired looking driveway into a neat, tidy, and durable paved drive.

Dronfield, Derbyshire - Multi-tiered garden renovation

We renovated this tiered garden to have a professional finish, with a new wallm decking and lawn.

Wadsley Bridge, Sheffield - stonework and new lawn

We turned an average garden into a modern, tiered patio and lawn living space.

Sheffield - stonework, brickwork and lawn

We constructed a usable and durable backgarden, fit for purpose.

Sheffield - New decking installation, with lower tier

This was a fairly straight forward project, apart from a slope that went from left to right. The discrepancy was 600mm over the width you see in the image. The lower tier was necessary to prevent the client being too high at the boundary with their neighbours.

Sheffield - New circle patio design, fence with hand cut paving

This new patio incorporated a circle, with surrounding concrete slotted posts, gravel boards and double sided round top fence panels. 3 tonnes of inert material were removed before we added 4 tonnes ourselves, to create a flat platform to work on. We didn't use a squaring kit, so the paving stones were squared off by hand.
